Materials by Lesson
This page lists what you need for each lesson that has been developed or outlined. Materials are organized by lesson — never by course level alone — so you only gather what is actually needed.

Smoker equipment or barbecue tools are NOT part of Kitchen Basics.
Food for one practice session
- •2 slices familiar soft bread, suitable under the learner's existing plan
- •Filling — one familiar, adult-approved choice: a familiar cheese slice, OR peanut butter, jelly, Nutella, marshmallow creme, or an approved combination (adult chooses and preportions the amount; spreads in a thin layer, combined spreads kept thin overall)
- •1/2 cup familiar applesauce or approved prepared side, adjusted as needed (adult preportioned)
- •Usual drink in a suitable cup
These are example practice amounts. Adjust to your learner's usual meal, appetite, and any existing plans. The filling amount is set by the adult, not by this lesson. This is not a prescribed or nutritionally complete meal plan.
Before the learner chooses, the adult checks every actual current package label and the learner's existing safe texture and mealtime plan. Not every option is suitable for every learner. Allergen examples (not a complete list): peanut butter contains peanuts; dairy cheese contains milk; classic Nutella contains hazelnuts and milk. Check every actual label — including bread, jelly, marshmallow creme, combinations, and substitutes — and prevent cross-contact. Do not judge a product safe from its name.
The adult prepares any cheese slice to the usual safe form before starting. No learner knife is needed.
Simple Breakfast (Block 2 — Planned, not yet ready)
This lesson is planned and needs full development before it is ready to use.
Will require adult-preportioned familiar yogurt and applesauce, usual bread and drink if wanted, and full allergen/texture/cold-storage checks.
No materials list for this lesson is ready yet.
Optional Elective Courses (All Planned)
No materials lists are provided for the optional barbecue/smoking electives — those courses are planned and not yet developed. If an elective is chosen in the future, equipment will be listed within that specific developed lesson.
Smoker equipment, thermometers, and heat-resistant gloves are NOT part of Kitchen Basics and are NOT needed for early lessons.
