AZ Kids Kitchen

Questions & Development Status

What is available right now?

Only the Build Your Own Sandwich pilot lesson is developed and available for review. It has not yet been tested with families. Everything else listed on this site is in development or planned.

What still needs development?

  • •All remaining Kitchen Basics lessons beyond the Build Your Own Sandwich pilot
  • •Apprentice, Journeyman, and Sous Chef courses
  • •Optional elective courses (Barbecue / Smoking)
  • •Jim’s instructor demonstrations (planned, not yet recorded)

Is enrollment open?

No. Enrollment and paid access are not open. Pricing, any access period or membership term, the payment provider, refund and cancellation policies, and adult account sign-in are all undecided. This will be announced when it is ready.

How will lessons be offered?

The plan is digital-first: written lessons and printable downloads, with a possible optional paid library of embedded demonstrations later. No price, access period, or membership term has been decided. There are no physical kits and no shipping.

Is the illustrated lesson booklet available?

Yes. The revised 8-page illustrated Build Your Own Sandwich pilot lesson and the 6-page Kitchen Basics Course Blueprint can be downloaded as PDFs from the Sample Lesson page. The blueprint is a development and review plan, not a finished course, and the pilot has not yet been tested with families. The free text edition remains available as a separate accessible format.

Can I get reimbursed through ESA or similar programs?

Not confirmed. A curriculum vendor application has been submitted and is pending review. It has not been approved, and funding eligibility or reimbursement through programs such as Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) is not confirmed. Please do not assume this program qualifies for reimbursement.

Is this a therapy program?

No. AZ Kids Kitchen is kitchen education — not feeding therapy, occupational therapy, or clinical treatment. It does not promise specific outcomes or independent cooking ability.

Who supports the learner during lessons?

A family member or other trusted adult. The adult stays present and actively supervises throughout preparation and eating. This program is designed for learners with family or adult support — not for unsupervised use.

What communication methods are supported?

Learners can participate using speech, pointing, signing, a communication device, or any other method they use. Lessons are designed to work with the learner’s existing communication, not require a specific method.

Are there any approved certifications or badges?

No. There are no approved certifications, badges, or credentials associated with this program.

What is the domain / website address?

The site is currently hosted at a temporary Abacus.AI URL. The domain azkidskitchen.fyi is a candidate for future use — purchase has not been confirmed, and no DNS changes have been made.
